The WMP54G adapter works (perfectly) under XP64, but it all could be a lot easier if Linksys would officially support it. As mentioned various times on this forum (and in this thread)., the WMP54G makes use of Railink chips that do the actual communication. Railink officially provides 64-bits support (as Linksys should have done). To get the WMP54G adapter running, I re-edited/copied the information given in the sources below in an attempt to make it a bit easier digestible Go to Railink website (I) (II) Download: PCI/mPCI/CB(RT256x/RT266x (date ): RT61 / RT2500 driver package This will download the executable with the name: 'IS_AP_STA_6x_D-1.2.3.0_VA-2.1.0.0_2500_D-3.2.0.0_VA-3.2.0.0_RU-2.0.4.0_VA-2.0.4.0_AU-1.2.1.0_VA-1.0.4.0_101707_0.1.0.29.exe', (III) Run this exe file - It will ask you whether you wan't optimal performance or something with wireless. Both will do. - It will ask you whether you want to use Railink as config utility or windows 'windows zero-g as config utility' to (eventually) set-up your network connection. After installation you can always switch from one to the other.
Hence both will do. Reboot your computer. It will tell you that it found new hardware Under Found new hardware, perform the following steps: (a) Can windows connect to windows Update to search for software? (select) no, not this time click (b) What do you want the wizard to do? (select) Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) click (c) Please choose your search and installation option (select) Don't search I will choose the driver to install click (d) Select a hardware type and then click Next.
Scroll down (select) Network adapters click (e) click the network adapter that matches your hardware. Under manufacturer, scroll down and select 'Railink Technology Corp.' (there is also a 'Railink Technology Inc.'
That did not work for me) Under network adapter: select what you think is the proper adapter (*) click (f) Warning message appears click (h1) if you choose the proper driver (*) everything should be fine (h2) If in your case you didn't select the proper driver (*), windows will tell you and you should repeat steps (a) to (f) until you find a match. If you managed in one way or another to install a non-working driver, you can go to open control panel - open system - go to hardware tab - slect device manager - go to network adapters select the faulty adapter - right mouse click - upate driver and repeat step (a) - (f) (i) Open Railink wireless utility (either via start menu - programs - railink wireless, or via the icon in the bottom right part of your screen) Verify that the Radio is turned on. Under network you should be able to see the wireless networks in your neighbourhood. Sometimes it takes a while before it indicates that it found a signal (so be patient). Once connected it seems very stable. What the proper driver is, appears to be case dependent:!!!!
For me ( WMP54G v4.1, European? Version) works the: '802.11g PCI Wireless Adapter' Internet learns that people find different matches, dependent on the exact Railink chip. Try to find a name match as close as possible to the name on your box. Sources that I used/copied here: Message Edited by vladimirP on 06:56 AM. There are 4 versions of wmp54g. Lounge Lizard Session Keygens. The versions are 1, 2, 4, and 4.1.
Of these only 2 versions use ralink chipsets and drivers. The two versions that the above drivers support are for versions 4 and 4.1. The device IDs for these cards are: Verson 4: PCI VEN_1814&DEV_0201&SUBSYS_00321737 Version 4.1: PCI VEN_1814&DEV_0301&SUBSYS_00551737 You can find these device IDs by going to Control Panel >>System >>Hardware >>Device Manager >>Your Adapter >>Details >>Matching Device ID If they match one of the above device IDs then you are in luck! For Windows XP 32/64, version 4 uses the ralink rt2500.sys driver and version 4.1 uses the ralink rt61.sys driver. The 2 driver packages at the website above should work for version 4 and 4.1 ONLY.
